Brookwood student competes in "MASTERCHEF Junior"

Congratulations to Brookwood fifth grader Lila D. who is about to compete in the new season of MASTERCHEF JUNIOR on FOX.  The culinary competition begins on Thursday, February 9 at 8 p.m.

Lila, 10, was chosen during a nationwide search of junior home cooks between the ages of eight and 13, according to FOX. The search resulted in 40 being chosen for the first episode (“The Quest for an Apron Part 1,”) in which they face a new challenge – a culinary battle in the MASTERCHEF JUNIOR kitchen in front of Chefs Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi. Only the top 20 from the group will earn a MASTERCHEF JUNIOR white apron and move ahead in the competition. These top young culinary experts go on to battle in a series of challenges, facing elimination each week, until ultimately the winner claims the MASTERCHEF JUNIOR trophy and a $100,000 grand prize.  Watch “First Look: The Wildest Season Ever”

Sven Holch, Lila’s teacher, says, "Our class is so excited for her! I am especially impressed at how she has been handling the attention with humility and modesty. Most commonly requested, has been for her to plan and cook a meal in the school kitchen for the entire Middle School. We're all eager and can't wait to see her in action!"

Good luck, Lila! All of Brookwood is cheering you on!
