Favorite children’s book: The Other Side, by Jaqueline Woodson.
Favorite lesson to teach: Explorer’s Groups: a 4-6 weeks period when the children choose what they want to study.
Beyond Brookwood: I support service-learning initiatives with a variety of people inside and outside of Brookwood. I have been involved in gathering community for supporting sensible gun laws as well as being involved in some local elections. I have also taken trips to Tanzania and Zimbabwe where I worked with very different cultures than ours. And at the end of the day…kids are kids no matter where you live, curious and excited about life and learning, and I get to be a part of that every day here! My days are always filled with wonder, questions, and hugs. Can’t get better than that!
On risk-taking: It’s as important at 4 as it is at 60.
What at Brookwood makes you a better teacher? My colleagues and support from leaders.
