The Brookwood community (students, parents, employees and visitors) gathers every Thursday at 10 a.m. in the John C. Peterman School Meeting House for what has long been known as the heart of the school. Performances, readings, presentations and announcements all take place at School Meeting and everyone has an opportunity to contribute and participate. Visit Brookwood any Thursday morning and see for yourself! Call the Admissions Office to schedule a visit.
Brookwood, through the Performing Arts program, seeks to teach all students to be creative and confident performers. From Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Eight, individual and group performing is encouraged at every age and ability level -- from School Meeting to plays and musical revues. View curricular goals at each grade level.
Complementing our core music program, our extracurricular program includes group and individual lessons, ensembles ranging from jazz and rock to classical, a cappella groups and a student/faculty chorus. Current after-school programs include contemporary combos, jazz/blues groups, drama, and vocal studio for young singers. A third of the school's students currently take advantage of the private lesson program, which offers piano, voice, guitar, bass guitar, band instruments, string instruments, and drum instruction. Contact Mrs. Gantt for more information on music lessons at Brookwood.
