Weekly News

Dear Upper School Families,

Fall is my favorite time of year. The temperatures are perfect, the leaves are turning brilliant reds and yellows, and the routines of school are very much established.

This is such an amazing community, and as a new member to the community, I continue to be struck by, and appreciative of, the deep connection people have to each other and this wonderful school. While there are endless examples to support my previous statements, two noteworthy moments happened this week.

First, our School Meeting Leadership group led their first meeting of the year yesterday. They were poised, articulate, and confident, and it was great to watch our 8th graders take center stage and lead our community with such care and enthusiasm.

Secondly, was Bike Bus! I completed my first Bike Bus this week. It was an awesome event and easily one of my best commutes to work! A very special shoutout to the little Heron who helped me spread school spirit on this fun-filled morning!

Now that the school year is in full swing, I will be adding some additional content areas to future communications. Those areas will include: an academic spotlight, highlighting one or two specific subject areas; PGD topics, recaps of extracurricular activities and events, and last but certainly not least, a parent corner with resources (podcasts, articles, books etc) on a range of topics- i.e. adolescent development, technology, social media.

Lastly, in case you missed Director of Auxiliary Programs, Trisha Gordon’s communication regarding conference day programming, kindly fill out this survey as soon as you can. Additionally, please refer to this flyer for more information regarding Parent/Teacher Conferences programming.

Take good care.

Sincerely,

Jay Tebbens

Head of Upper School
