I hope that everyone enjoyed the wonderful snow day yesterday! 

Where did January go? It feels like yesterday that I was welcoming everyone back from winter break. Fall Term grades have been posted, winter sports are in the final third of their seasons, and 8th graders are hard at work rehearsing for the highly anticipated 8th Grade Play- The SpongeBob Musical. February is a  fast and activity filled month, so please take a look at the Parent Corner and News You Can Use for upcoming events

Academic Spotlight Grades and Comments

Fall Term grades and comments were posted to the Parent Portal on Tuesday, January 28. To support your review of grades and comments, I have included a brief overview of what to look for on those reports. If you have any questions about a grade or comment, I encourage you to reach out directly to the teacher of that course. As always, I am happy to connect with you should you have additional questions or concerns. 

Grade 5 

  • Grade 5 students receive full narrative comments and checklists for all classes.
  • Students received a comment only for Wellness and Changemaking

Grades 6 - 7 

  • Students receive grades for:
    • English, History, Math, Science, and World Language 
    • Students receive a comment only for a grade of C or lower

Grade 8

  • Students received grades on January 3 and will receive their next round of grades and comments in April. 
  • Advisory is not graded, and comments from advisors are included in the June report
  • Athletic comments are written each season

Parent Corner

On Tuesday, February 25 Minding Your Mind will be on campus providing mental health programming for parents, students and faculty.  Educational Psychologist Linda Price M.Ed., CAGS, entitled Growing Together: Supporting Upper School Students and Parent Well-Being will be held from 8:45 – 10:15 a.m. in the DWC. You can sign up here.

**Parent Program Description: Join Educational Psychologist Linda Price, M.Ed., CAGS, for a warm and supportive conversation about mental health and well-being—for both you and your child! Explore typical development in upper school and learn how to recognize when your child may need additional support. Raising a middle schooler can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Discover practical strategies for moving through these years with more calm, deeper connections, and a greater sense of balance for your whole family.

 News You Can Use

  • Thursday, February, 13- Valentine Spirit Day- wear red, pink, purple and white
  • 8th Grade Play Stage Build Out!!! All day- Thursday, February 13. 
  • 7th & 8th Grade Dance- Friday, February 28 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The dance will begin right after 8th Grade Play rehearsal. Dinner will be provided for students.
  • 2025 AISNE Middle School Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference at Regis College, Weston, MA- Saturday, February 8, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
