Maintaining Up-to-Date Physicals

To ensure students are fully able to participate in school activities, we kindly request that all families keep their child's physical exam up to date, with a current physical (within the last 12 months) on file. Our School Nurse will reach out to families when a physical is nearing expiration to inquire about the timing of the next appointment. It’s important that families communicate with the Nurse to help keep student health records current.

We encourage families to follow these best practices regarding expiring physicals to support student participation in activities:

  • If your child's physical has expired, but you have an appointment scheduled within 7 business days of the expiration, no doctor’s note is needed for general school activities. However, a doctor’s note is required for participation in athletics or overnight trips.
  • If the appointment is scheduled beyond 7 business days but within 30 days of expiration, a doctor’s note will be required for both general activities and athletics/overnight trips.
  • In exceptional cases, should a physical expire for more than 30 days, a doctor’s note is required for any form of participation.

In cases where a doctor’s note is needed, it should include important information such as the date of the last physical, the date of the upcoming physical, and certification that the student is cleared to participate in school activities.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students!
