Welcoming Brookwood’s 2024-25 Teaching Apprentices!
Our school community welcomes its 34th Teaching Apprentice cohort to Brookwood this fall. Through a competitive admissions process, we selected five aspiring educators to work in our Early Childhood and Elementary classrooms alongside experienced mentor teachers. Please introduce yourself and extend a warm Brookwood welcome to:
Gianna Shin - KB with Pam Hawes and Tayte Messman
Katie O’Brien - 1A with Sarah Dawe
Tasha Anderson ’07 - 1B with Jeff Wilfahrt
Greer Harnden - 2B with Katie Swanton
TJ de Blij - 3B with Lauren Hutchinson
In a single year, our Teaching Apprentices earn Massachusetts initial teaching licensure and a Master of Education degree through Lesley University. They immerse themselves in classroom and school life, translating theory, current research and teaching pedagogy into daily practice in two semester-long classroom placements, all while taking a full slate of graduate classes at Lesley and Brookwood! They receive the mentorship, training and experience to launch a successful career in education, all the while enriching our community as people and learners. We are excited for them and for the students whose lives they will positively affect.
