Happy 2025! I hope you had a restful and joyful winter break and are ready to kick off the new year with renewed energy and excitement. I am looking forward to a wonderful second half of the school year filled with growth, learning, and new experiences. Please take a look at the Parent Corner and News You Can Use as there are a number of events happening in the next month.
Academic Spotlight Financial Literacy: A New 8th Grade Course!
Financial Literacy in eighth grade? That's right. This eighth grade course, taught by Andy Luman, has taken a deep dive into how money shapes the world around us, exploring needs vs. wants, and unpacking budgeting, saving, and debt basics. Each week, students engage in interactive games, tackle real-life scenarios, and discover what kind of spender they are (behavioral economics). From supply and demand lessons to examining personal values around money, this class has equipped students with the tools to make informed financial decisions.
Keep a lookout in future newsletters as new course topics will be shared for the next rotation beginning in two weeks!
