Weekly News

The start of the school year has been a success! There has been an abundance of smiles, laughter, and joy on campus this past week and a half with students reuniting with old friends and connecting with new ones, meeting their teachers, spending time in advisory, and reacquainting themselves with the day to day routines  of being in school.

This week marks an important time in the year for our students. Focused on team building, community connection, and experiential learning, each grade has a well designed, three day, class experience. The 7th and 8th grade left Wednesday morning for their trips to Camp Caribou (7) and The Farm School (8). The 6th grade engaged in a three day “Boost Camp” (bonding class activities) and the 5th grade, under the care and support of Lisa Johnson and Lisa Burns, extended orientation and expanded student understanding of what it means to be in Upper School. Today, the 5th and 6th grades travel to Boda Borg for a day filled with challenging quests!

I have had the opportunity to spend time at each of these class events this week and I am amazed by the experiences our students are having. These student-centered, developmentally appropriate activities are just another example of what I love about Brookwood!

I look forward to welcoming our students back to campus today and hope to see you all at Back to School Night on Thursday, September 26!

Sincerely,
Jay Tebbens
Head of Upper School
